LAUNCH OF THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PREVENTION ACCORD AND THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY STRATEGY The Inspection and Enforcement Services Branch of the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL) launched the occupational health and safety (OHS) prevention accord and the OHS strategy 2024 to 2029 on 16 October 2024 at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg, South Africa. This is against the backdrop of OHS being the fifth principle in the ILO’s fundamental rights and principles at work. The accord was signed by organised business, organised labour, the Compensation Fund, Rand Mutual Assurance and the Federated Employers Mutual Assurance. The respective partners committed themselves to promoting the prevention of incidents and occupational diseases at the workplace.
