THE FEDERATED EMPLOYERS MUTUAL ASSURANCE COMPANY (RF) (Pty) Ltd was established as a mutual insurer in 1936 and, on the introduction of the Workmen’s Compensation Act 1941, was granted a license to continue to transact workmen’s compensation insurance for the construction industry.
Our business operations are essentially confined to the insurance of employers against their liabilities under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 1993 (COIDA).
In terms of the Memorandum of Incorporation of the company, shareholding is restricted to policyholders.

TEMPORARY TOTAL DISABLEMENT
Compensation is payable to an injured employee who is off work for more than three days. The employee will be reimbursed at the rate of 75% of monthly earnings as stipulated by COIDA.

Compensation where the degree of disablement is 30% or less takes the form of a lump sum to the injured employee. Where disablement is more than 30%, it takes the form of a monthly pension.

COMPENSATION WHERE AN EMPLOYEE DIES
The dependent is entitled to the payment of a lump sum of twice the monthly pension to which the employee would have been entitled to if they were 100% disabled.

MEDICAL EXPENSES
All reasonable medical expenses, related to the injury, will be paid according to COIDA tariffs.

TRANSPORT OF AN INJURED EMPLOYEE
The reasonable expenses incurred for the transportation of an injured employee to a hospital, doctor or to his residence, will be refunded in line with COIDA tariffs.
