DRAFT REGULATIONS FOR HAZARDOUS

BIOLOGICAL AGENTS

Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations (85/1993)

The Minister of Employment and Labour (DEL), has given notice that he intends, in terms of Section 43 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act No. 85 of 1993), to make these regulations in the schedule.

The Minister has given 90 days, from the date of publication of this notice, which was 31 July 2020, to submit comment on the draft regulations.

Saiosh established a Technical Committee (TC) consisting of registered Health and Safety Professionals as well as registered Occupational Hygienists to compile comments on these regulations. Saiosh members were also requested to submit their comments via the Saiosh Technical Forum. The TC compiled a consolidated sets of comments which was submitted to the DEL on 21 October 2020.
