Saiosh Facilitates   R380K PPE Donation for SMME Contractors     This year Saiosh, a SAQA recognised professional body in terms of the NQF Act, Act 67 of 2008, is celebrating 10 years of proudly being the professional body for occupational health and safety professionals in South Africa. In the past ten years Saiosh has registered more than 16 000 members.   "Our objective is to promote and develop the professional advancement of occupational safety and health and to further the profession," says Neels Nortje, chief executive officer at Saiosh.   "This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the world finds itself in uncharted territory and Saiosh had to swiftly come up with ideas to remain valuable to its members," says Nortje. "We implemented a number of projects to assist our members in these trying times. We introduced a membership fee relief fund, joined the Food Forward food campaign, hosted Covid-19 webinars and established an online Covid-19 information portal, to name a few."   On 15 September 2020 Saiosh facilitated a donation of safety glasses to the value of R380 000.00 The safety glasses were donated to Saiosh by Uvex South Africa, a subsidiary of the Uvex Safety Group, a corporate member of Saiosh. Saiosh in turn gave the safety glasses to the Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal's SMME contractor programme, also a corporate member of Saiosh.    Seen above, from left to right are: Neels Nortje, chief executive officer at Saiosh, Christo Nel, director of sales and marketing in Middle East, Africa and India at Uvex, and Victor Smith, training manager at Master Builders KwaZulu-Natal.
