Update - Saiosh Commits to Food Scarcity Project    Background information - Food Scarcity Project:    In light of two main risks highlighted some 5 weeks ago, we reported two potential emerging risks as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, namely food scarcity resulting in civil unrest and an increase in crime.  Not long after, South Africa saw both risks materialise as access to food became increasingly difficult. During this time a campaign was initiated with FoodForward SA.  Having recognised FoodForward SA as a credible and capable solution with the necessary capacity and passion to handle this problem, IRMSA together with other Professional Bodies drove hard and relentlessly to assist those who were then, and still are vulnerable and without an income.   Saiosh has committed to join in the Food Scarcity Project together with other Professional Bodies and FoodForward SA. This is as a result of two of the most significant risks to have emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic; the potential of social unrest and a likely increase in crime.  Both these risks if left untreated, have the potential to result in riots, looting, damage to property and harm to people.  Not forgetting (on the back of unemployment, the loss of income and poverty) hunger, starvation and desperation.   "I have never seen a campaign go viral, reach and positively impact so many people as this one. The support shown by so many professionals and people in South Africa and overseas has really touched me. On Tuesday, when the Managing Director of FoodForward SA gave me feedback on how the campaign is going, I had to take a moment. R22,5 million has been raised (26 470 588 meals) I could not believe that our IRMSA-linked communities have responded with such compassion."   - Gillian le Cordeur, Chief Executive Officer, The Institute of Risk Management South Africa.   Saiosh would like to thank each and every Member that has contributed in some way or form to FoodForwad SA and the Food Scarcity Project. Your contribution has helped thousands of people is desperate need.
