DHET REGISTRATION REVOKED

With reference to the Government Gazette No 43007 on the 07 February 2020 – Notice No. 118 - Revocation of Joint Communiqué 1 of 2016:

The Saiosh Health and Safety Training Advisory Committee (SHASTAC) has been requested by Mrs Lynel Farrell (who is spearheading a drive to the Minister of DHET) to forward the following request to all Saiosh Members. It will be of particular interest to Saiosh Corporate Members that are Training Providers, as they will and / or going to be affected by this Notice.

As a Skills Development Industry, we would like to appeal the DHET Registration revocation as SDP Providers, and would like to be recognised as learning institutions in order to register with the DHET in a fair, reliable and ethical registration process.  In order to appeal as an industry, we need 4 minutes of your time to complete the survey.  The information and stats obtained from the completed survey will assist in the submission to the Minister.  You may complete the survey and opt to remain anonymous.

Should you know of any other Skills Development Providers that also applied for registration with the DHET and have not been able to obtain registration, you are more than welcome to share the survey link, in order to get more providers on board.  This survey covers aspects of providers that have applied as well as SDPs that have not applied for registration with the DHET as yet – you are both important in this survey.

The lucky Providers that was able to obtain registration, should continue to comply with their annual submissions as per normal, and will comply with the relevant changes.  The revocation will affect the registered providers as well, and will be removed from the DHET’s Registered List once their registration expires (some have been registered for over a decade and will lose their registration)

The Providers whom have submitted their application for registration which is currently recorded on the published DHET List of Skills Development Providers (applicants) dated 28 January 2020, should remain on the list of applicants, and not be requested to pay another application fee, but rather to submit the updated documents required in order to obtain registration with the DHET.  The registration process should be implemented with a clear guidance for private providers (SDPs) and take into consideration our unique industry, from corporate providers to the very small SMMEs whom conduct training, where it is required and needed by businesses/employers and the like.

Each and every Accredited Skills Development Provider requires to be recognised by the DHET as a legal SDP and be recognised in order to get rid of bogus providers that have damaged our industry with unethical operations.  We stand together as an industry, and request that the Minister considers our submission of appeal, and implement a fair process to all Accredited Skills Development Providers nationwide.
