Renewing your 2019 membership - The right choice

Saiosh is recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) as the Professional Body to register Occupational Health and Safety Practitioners in South Africa in terms of the NQF Act, Act 67 of 2008.

With more than 12000 members Saiosh is the leading source of information and networking opportunities within the Occupational Health and Safety profession in South Africa.

Ten reasons to renew your membership

1. Professional Registration

Saiosh has thee professional Health and Safety Designations that are registered with SAQA in terms of the NQF Act. Saiosh is recognised by SAQA as the Health and Safety Professional Body to professionally register members on one of the three registered designations.

2. Health and Safety Workshops

Saiosh annually host ten provincial CPD OHS Workshops. Members attend for free. Two rounds of workshops are held in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein. The workshops are webinar recorded and a link to the recordings are sent to all members.

3. Health and Safety Conference

Saiosh annually host an International Health and Safety Conference at the Gallagher Convention Centre alongside the A-OSH Expo. The conference and exhibition are the largest of its kind in Africa.


The SHEQ Management Magazine is the official journal of Saiosh, it is South Africa's leading SHEQ Magazine. Members get free subscription to the magazine.

5. E-learning

Saiosh has a 20 module Construction Health and Safety e-learning programme. Members have free access to the programme and earn CPD points for completing the modules.

6. Legal Updates

Members have free access to the updates of all OHS related Acts. Members receive the update notice and the actual included text into the law title. It shows the old text before the change and the new edited text as the new law.


7. Legal Advice


Members have free access to the Saiosh OHS Legal Advice Forum. This is a platform for members to post OHS legal queries to receive a professional opinion from a seasoned OHS Advocate


8. Bursaries

Saiosh has identified the scarcity of skills in the Occupational Health and Safety field and have noted the challenges that some prospective candidates have in accessing the funds to pay for their skills development. Saiosh annually make available bursaries to qualifying members.

9. Awards

Saiosh annually make several awards including a Person and Student of the year with financial rewards.

10. Lobby

Saiosh act as a lobby group for Occupational Health and Safety legislation and standards and for this purpose interacts and liaises with the Department of Labour and other Government Bodies on behalf of its members.

How to renew your membership

Membership invoices were e-mailed to all current members on 29 January 2019. Your invoice is also available on your membership profile from the "Manage Profile" page. You can also send an e-mail to and request your invoice.

The 2019 membership fees are due by 28 February 2019. Once you have made payment and sent the proof of payment to your 2019 membership certificate will be available on your profile, an email will be sent to you with the link to your certificate on your profile. Your membership will be suspended, if not paid, 30 days after the due date.

Renewing your membership is the right choice. You will be part of South Africa's largest OHS Professional Body that will constantly keep you informed and updated on the latest developments in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.
