 Attention all First Aid Training Providers & Clients   It is important for you to read this article and to complete the survey below   The Saiosh Health and Safety Training Advisory Committee  (SHASTAC) was formed by Saiosh after being contacted by numerous training providers asking for advice, direction and assistance after The Chief Inspector, Tibor Szana of the Department of Labour, promulgated in the Government Gazette (No 41350 dated 22 December 2017) the following Notice 1463 : “Amended Notice of Direction in terms of Section 27(2) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, read with Regulation 3(4) of the General Safety Regulations” made changes to the first aid training accreditation regulations.   The first order of business for SHASTAC was the formation of a working document that was presented to the Chief Inspector, Mr Tibor Szana. This was followed with a meeting between SHASTAC and the Chief Inspector on 22 May 2018 at the Saiosh OHS Conference in Midrand. At the meeting, concerns were raised with the challenges faced by training providers and in meeting the deadline of the 22 August 2018 and the implications of changing to the Unit Standard based training for legislative short courses and the effect it will have on clients and end users. Mr Szana asked that SHASTAC  meet with his senior management team. SHASTAC and the Department of Labour OHS Senior Management team then met on 30 May 2018. They were receptive to the comments raised by SHASTAC however indicated that Saiosh needed to substantiate the concerns and implications.   Saiosh needs your URGENT assistance in completing the below survey in order for SHASTAC to adequately formulate a final document to present to the Department of Labour.   Please note that the survey is not limited to Saiosh Members, please feel free to send this survey to your e-mail database.
