The importance of CPD

Saiosh attended the 10th SAQA Professional Body Forum that was held on 14 March 2017 at SAQA House, Pretoria. There were a number of important matters on the agenda including:

• Critical Skills Visas
• Verification of Foreign Qualifications
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and,
• Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Members shall strive through personal initiative to maintain professional competence, and keep abreast of emerging issues and trends in the field of Occupational Safety and Health. Members shall contribute to the development of the Occupational Safety and Health profession through the sharing of skills, ideas and participation in networking to promote and enhance the competence of the profession.  

It is a requirement for Technical (TechSaiosh), Graduate (GradSaiosh) and Chartered (CMSaiosh) Members to complete CPD to ensure improvement, knowledge and skills enhancement as well as the development of personal qualities to ensure professional execution of duties throughout the Occupational Safety and Health Professional or Practitioner’s career. Failing to complete CPD will result in Members being de-registered. This is a SAQA Professional Body requirement.
