 Department of Labour Notice   ADVERTISEMENT FOR SPECIALISTS / EXPERTS TO SERVE ON THE ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (ACOHS) IN TERMS OF THE 
 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT, ACT 85 OF 1993, AS AMENDED 
 In terms of Section 2 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993, as Amended (OHSA), the Department of Labour is required to establish an Advisory Council for Occupational Health and Safety. The Advisory Council for Occupational Health and Safety is a tripartite Committee established in terms of the aforementioned Act. 
 The purpose of the Council is to advise the Minister of Labour on aspects of health and safety insofar as it is covered by the legislation. The functions of the Council can be found in Section 3 of the Act and includes but is not limited to the Council advising the Minister with regard to:- matters of Policy arising out of the Act; matters relating to occupational health and safety; performing functions assigned by the Act or referred to it by the Minister. Members of ACOHS are appointed for a period of the existing Council. 
 The Department of Labour hereby invites specialist / experts candidates to apply to serve on the Advisory Council for Occupational Health and Safety for a period of at least three years. The nominated members should have specialist/expert knowledge of:- 
                Occupational Safety matters (One person) 
                Occupational Hygiene (One person) In terms of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993, as Amended (OHSA), 
                the candidate should have achieved a National Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Construction and Chemical and proven ten years experience in managerial position 
                the candidate should have achieved a National Diploma in Environmental Health and 10 years experience in a managerial position Candidates should be registered with recognised professional bodies in South Africa.
