First Aid Training Providers Survey

The Saiosh Health and Safety Training Advisory Committee (SHASTAC) was formed by Saiosh after being contacted by numerous training providers asking for advice, direction and assistance after The Chief Inspector, Tibor Szana of the Department of Labour, promulgated in the Government Gazette (No 41350 dated 22 December 2017) the following Notice 1463 : “Amended Notice of Direction in terms of Section 27(2) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, read with Regulation 3(4) of the General Safety Regulations” made changes to the first aid training accreditation regulations.

The first order of business for SHASTAC was the formation of a working document that was presented to the Chief Inspector, Mr Tibor Szana. This was followed with a meeting between SHASTAC and Mr Tibor Szana on 22 May 2018 at the Saish Conference in Midrand. At the meeting, concerns were raised with the challenges faced by training providers in meeting the deadline of the 22 August 2018 and the implications of changing to the Unit Standard based training for legislative short courses. Mr Tibor Szana asked that SHASTAC meet with his senior management team. SHASTAC and the Department of Labour OHS Senior Management team then met on 30 May 2018. They were receptive to the comments raised by SHASTAC however indicated that Saiosh needed to substantiate what was being told to them.

Saiosh thus needs your URGENT assistance in completing the following survey so that we can adequately formulate a final document to present to the the Department of Labour.
