Saiosh Appoint Chief Executive Officer

In the brief 6 years since being formed, Saiosh continues to reach new heights. We established a full time office in Kloof, received recognition from SAQA as the Professional body for Occupational Safety and Health in South Africa and have grown our membership numbers to over 5700 individual members. In addition we have over 300 Corporate companies who recognise and support the work that the Institute does.

Our Council members work in a voluntary capacity. As the Institute has grown so have the functions and responsibilities of the Council grown. Council therefore took the decision to create the position of a Chief Executive Officer to manage the business of the Institute with specific reference to membership matters and the financial activities of the Institute.

Saiosh CEO Neels Nortjé

We are pleased to announce that Neels Nortjé has been appointed in the position of CEO. Neels has performed the functions of Registrar for Saiosh on a voluntary basis for six years, with a precise and clear “hands on” approach to the tasks. Neels brings to Saiosh 30 years experience in Occupational Health and Safety as well as 20 years experience in managing a membership organisation. He holds a National Diploma in Safety Management as well as a Mechanical and Electrical N6 qualification. He currently serves on the Minister of Labour's Advisory Council for Health and Safety ACOHS.

The Council wish him well in the new position and look forward to an even bigger Institute with our two simple objectives.

  • We will do everything we can to educate, promote, mentor, guide and lobby for the OHS Profession
  • We will do exactly the same for the OHS Professionals
